Bertie Diehl

Diehl, Bertie (Newkirk), 78, of Brookville, passed away Thursday, October 13, 2011 at Heartland of Eaton. She was born to the late James Thomas and Cona Island (Roberts) Newkirk in Middletown on May 23, 1933. Bertie was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 40 years, Paul R. Diehl; son; Rickey D. Adkins; one brother; and two sisters. She is survived by her daughter, Deborah (Ricky) Baxley of West Alexandria; son, Paul "Jamie" Diehl of New Lebanon; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; 5 step-children; 21 step-grandchildren; 23 step-great grandchildren; and sister, Yvonne (Joseph) Spicer of Middletown. For over 20 years, Bertie was a member of the First Baptist Church in New Lebanon. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM on Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2011 at ROGERS' FUNERAL HOME, NEW LEBANON with Pastor Terry Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Bear Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6-8 PM.
