Age 80 of New Lebanon, Ohio passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2024 at her home.

Alice was preceded in death by parents, William Henry Nilson & Ruth Vechil McDonald Nilson of Dayton; husband, Larry Martin Swank of New Lebanon; brother, William David Nilson of Dayton; and numerous aunts, uncles & cousins.

She is survived by sister, Mary Etta “Sue” (Nilson) Johnson of Germantown; daughters, Kelly V. Swank of Alexandria, VA, and Kimberly S. Swank of New Lebanon; son, Kristopher M. Swank of Mechanicsburg; grandsons, Kaleb L. Rutledge of Vienna, VA, Kamron T. Rutledge Columbus, OH, and Gavin Montgomery of New Lebanon; nephews, Jason D. Johnson & S. Andy Johnson of Germantown, & James Jackson of Tipp City; uncle, Wendell McDonald of Farmersville, OH. Also, cousins and special family friends, David & Ruth Peffly of New Lebanon, OH.

Alice Graduated from Germantown High School 1962.

She grew up working in her parent's restaurant, Nilson's in Germantown. Her first job was at NCR in Dayton. After having her first child she chose to stay at home to raise her children & her life's work was helping to raise children in the community as home child care provider. She was an active member of the community. Alice was actively involved and ran organizations such as Dixie PTO, New Lebanon Youth Athletics (NLYA), and helped within the school system. She was instrumental in standing up the Kids Voting in the New Lebanon schools and starting the Market Day program to help raise funding for the schools. She led the charge in getting investments to build the concession stand and playground at Don Rusk Park. She was voted New Lebanon Person of the Year in 1990.

Alice loved children and had the patience of a saint. She was constantly serving others and giving people her time, experience, love and her home. She loved everything Disney & her favorite vacation was visiting Disney World. She also worked at The Disney Store in the Dayton Mall.

A memorial visitation will be held from 2-5pm with family to speak at 5 PM on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at Rogers Funeral Home in New Lebanon. www.RogersFuneralHomes.com
