Amza E. Stoner, Jr.

STONER, Amza E., Jr. 90, of Flora, died Sunday-Nov. 8, 2015 at 9:40am at his residence. He had been in ill health since August. He was born July 29, 1925 in Dayton, OH, to the late Amza & Bessie Miller Ogle Stoner. His 1st marriage was to Esther N. King in Greenville, OH, on Dec. 9, 1944, and she preceded him in death on Nov. 30, 1993. He then married Joyce E. Flora Yoder in Flora, IN, on August 12, 1995, and she survives. He attended the former Roosevelt High School in Dayton, OH. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WW II, serving in the medical corp. He was a self employed carpenter all his working life in the Brookville, OH area. He was a member of the Bachelor Run Old German Baptist Brethren Church in Flora. Surviving: wife-Joyce E. Stoner of Flora; daughters: Barbara D. Stoner of Phillipsburg, OH, Blanche A. Stoner of Englewood, OH, Bonnie & Carl Denlinger of Phillipsburg, OH, Rebekah & John Hutzel of Brookville, OH; sons: Robert L. Stoner of New Lebanon, OH, Samuel & Deborah Stoner of Bonnie Lake, WA, Donald & Amy Stoner of West Alexandria, OH, Steve & Debra Stoner of Trotwood, OH; sister: Bonnie L. McGuffey of West Milton, OH; sister in law: Martha & Robert Miller of Elida, OH; stepdaughters: Connie & Steve Sharp of Citrus Heights, CA, Rita & Kurt Hufford of Colorado Springs, CO; 30 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren; 46 great grandchildren; 8 great great grandchildren. Preceded in death by an inf. daughter Margaret; 2 sons inf. Amza & David; a brother; a sister; a half brother; daughter in law Carolyn; 2 great grandchildren. Services: Friends may call Wednesday from 3-5 & 6-8pm at Abbott Funeral Home, Inc., Delphi. Funeral service Thursday at 9am at the Bachelor Run Old German Baptist Brethren Church, Flora. Home brethren officiating. He’ll then be transported to Rogers Funeral Home in New Lebanon, OH, where the family will receive friends Thursday from 5-8pm at the funeral home, and a graveside service Friday at 10am at Royal Oak Memorial Gardens in Brookville, OH, where he will be buried.
