Billy Joe Prather

PRATHER, BILLY JOE, Age 68, passed away on January 5, 2012. In his final moments, he was surrounded by loved ones and prayers. Billy was born in Richmond, KY on June 2, 1943 to Freemon and Nora Prather. He is preceded in death by his parents; first wife, the mother of his children, Nancy J. (Davis) Prather; 6 brothers; and 5 sisters. Billy is survived by his son, Joseph M. (Mary) Prather; daughter, Kristol M. (Kevin) Sorice; beloved granddaughter, Tori N. Sorice; sister, Ruth DeVere; brothers, Ray (Iva), Stan, and Chester (Sandy) Prather; and loving companion of 18 years, Mary E. Rose, along with her family and grandchildren, who affectionately called him Papaw. He has numerous nieces, nephews, and wonderful friends. He will be forever loved and missed. The family wishes to give a special thanks to all the wonderful staff at Heartland of Centerville and Hospice of Heartland. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 9, 2012 from 4-7PM at ROGERS' FUNERAL HOME, 324 W. Main St., New Lebanon 45345. On Tuesday, January 10, 2012, the funeral service will begin at 10:30AM at the funeral home with Pastor Tim Hamilton officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
