Carol Riegel

On November 4, 2026, Carol Riegel, age 95, went to be with her Lord, and has been reunited with her husband, David, after 7 years apart.

She was a lifelong member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Farmersville and graduated from Farmersville High School. She was a proud graduate of Miami University, with a Bachelor of Education degree, and the University of Dayton, where she obtained her master’s degree in education.

She was a first-grade teacher at Germantown Elementary School in the Valley View School System; and retired after 20 years in the early 1990’s.

Carol was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 70 years, David, her parents, Claude and Ruth (Izor) Hileman, daughter-in-law Renee Riegel, her brother and sister-in-law, Don & ClaraBell Hileman, and sister-in-law, Ruth Ellen Hileman. She was also preceded in death by David’s parents, Leonard and Bessie Riegel, and his brothers and sisters Clifford and Dorothy Riegel, Sue and Donald Marker, Jeanette and Bill Foote, and John and Stella Riegel.

She is survived by her loving children Norma (Randy) Bechtol, Donna (Jon) Holtzman, and David Riegel, Jr., her grandchildren Chris (Meagan) Wilson, Marah (Chris) Reeves, Kimberly (Bryan) Culbertson, Chelsea (Chris) Buck and David (Sabrine) Riegel, along with 18 soon to be 19 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Marvin Hileman, her brother-in-law Donald (Janet) Riegel, and numerous nieces, and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 11, 2026, at Rogers Funeral Home in New Lebanon with Pastor Jon Kibler officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday (1 hour prior to service) at the funeral home on Wednesday.
