HECK, Charles "Denny" Age 92 formerly of New Lebanon, passed away on Thursday January 31 at Brookhaven Retirement Community. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Clara and Charles Heck; wife of nearly 50 years Janice "Patty" Heck; brother Jacob Heck; daughter Jane Heck and son Butch Fultz. He is survived by his brother Harold (Charlene) Heck; sister Vera Heck; grandsons Craig (Isabelle) Roberts and Michael (Cathie) Roberts; granddaughters Betsy (Chuck) Hunt and Pam (Mark Tullis) Fultz; daughter-in-law Linda; great grandchildren Zachary Roberts, Emily Roberts, Shelby Lyons, Shawn (Amber) Strange, Michele Strange and Hayden Hunt; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends too numerous to mention. Denny was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Army as a tank commander with the 752nd Tank Battalion in Italy. He retired from the Montgomery County Board of Elections after 30 years of service. Prior to that, he worked alongside his father in the Montgomery County Recorder's Office. Denny was a longtime member of the Montgomery County Democratic Party's Central Committee, also serving on their Executive and Screening Committees. He was an avid fisherman, taking yearly trips to Canada with family and friends. He was a longtime member of the New Lebanon Rotary Club, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion Post 752. Denny always had a way of making people laugh with his jokes and hilarious words of wisdom. He touched the hearts of everyone he came in contact with and will be dearly missed by all. The family will receive friends and loved ones to celebrate Denny's life from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, February 4, 2013 at Rogers Funeral Home in New Lebanon. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday February 5, 2013 at Rogers. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Dayton in Denny's memory.
