Charlotte R. McClain, born March 2, 1947 in Allock, KY, passed away Sunday, September 25, 2011 in Dayton, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents, James L. and Opal Shipley; and sister Donna. Survived by her husband, James (Jim/Mac) E. McClain; sister, Julia A. Thompson; children, Billy J. Cox, Jenny L. (Cox) Springer, and Jason A. Cox; step-daughter, Carol A. (McClain) Wagner; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren with one due in a month. She also had two dogs and several cats. She had many kids and grandkids and claimed many more. She had a great love of all children and was a champion of all animals. She didn't meet one of either that she didn't love. She was always happiest when she was with her grandchildren or traveling to some new place. She traveled widely and enjoyed friends that had been made during travels with her husband of nearly 35 years. Charlotte was raised in a small coal mining town and moved to Ohio as a young child when her father moved to find better work. She married Jim on November 27, 1976. She traveled to Oklahoma shortly after and then moved to Germany in 1979, staying five years until Jim retired from the military. She currently lived just outside New Lebanon, Ohio where she enjoyed taking care of the lawn and very much loved mowing grass on her lawn tractor. "She made friends easily and was loved by many. She will be missed deeply. I know I loved her as much as a man could love a woman." Jim (Mac) McClain Visitation will be Thursday, September 29, 2011 from 6:00 to 7:00 PM at ROGERS' FUNERAL HOME 324 W. Main St, New Lebanon, Ohio 45345 with Pastor Todd Velty officiating. The funeral service will begin at 7:00 PM the same day.
