David R. Erbaugh

August 18, 1948 — June 22, 2020

ERBAUGH, David Roy 71, of Union, OH, passed on June 22,2020, at the Dayton VA, after fighting Parkinson’s and dementia for 15 years as a result of Agent Orange exposure in Viet Nam. He was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Louise (Dillon) Erbaugh and his brother Arthur Erbaugh. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Nan (Alley) Erbaugh; his sons Zachary (Wendy) Erbaugh; Noah Erbaugh (fiancee Julie Eckes); grandchildren Miriam, Joanna, Gabriel, and Gunnar Erbaugh, Avery and Charlie Bennett; sister Ann (William) Teater; niece Jenny (Scott) Jessie; nephews John (Julie) and Arthur Teater; great-niece Parker Jessie; great-nephews Jonlem and Urban Teater, Jase Jessie. David was a gentle, loving, kind spirit with a fiery passion for peace and helping others. He was a deacon at Lower Miami Church of the Brethren, and spent many years as a volunteer firefighter/EMT/paramedic and church camp counselor. After five learning tours to S. Sudan, he continued his dedication to helping the women and girls of S. Sudan. Always, always, he was committed to peace, justice, and care for the earth. An outdoor celebration of life service will begin at 5:30pm on Friday, July 10, 2020, at Lower Miami Church of the Brethren, 5353 Germantown Pike, Dayton, OH 45417, with wife Rev. Nan Erbaugh officiating. Friends are welcome to visit with family following the service. There will be physically distanced seating, plenty of hand sanitizer and wipes, and the ability to stay in your car to hear the service. Masks are encouraged. If, however, due to health issues, it is best for you to stay home, please know we understand. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of David are welcome and may be sent to New Community Project, 117 Nature Road, Blue Ridge, VA 24064. Donations may also be made at newcommunityproject.org. When you click on “donate” there is an option to check “in memory of Dave Erbaugh.” All donations will help Sudan.
