David Eldon Smith

Age 73, of New Lebanon, OH, passed away on December 4, 2025. David was preceded in death by his father Eldon K. Smith, mother Jane E. (Storer) Smith, and two infant brothers.

He is survived by his son Michael (Jennifer) Smith, daughter Kristi (Brian) Hinton, grandchildren Jeffrey Hudson and Jacob Smith, and many cousins.

One of his favorite hobbies has been model railroading since childhood. He enjoyed learning WW2 history whether it was reading books or watching documentaries. He loved spending time with his family and especially his grandkids. He was a proud veteran having served 8 years in the National Guard. He was a proud union sheet metal worker and spent most of his career at Enterprise Roofing, and was less than a year away from his 50-year pin. He was an amazing craftsman and often would make his own tools, tool boxes, or anything else he may need to make the task at hand easier. If he wasn’t in the house, he could always be found in the barn tinkering on something. He was known to most as either Boots or Meena.

Visitation will be held from 10am-12pm with funeral to begin at 12:00pm on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at The Ridge Church, 7555 Brookville Phillipsburg Rd., Brookville, Ohio 45309.
