Age 95 of Brookville, passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2025. She was born in Montgomery County, Ohio on March 31, 1929.

Desta was preceded in death by her parents, Charles & Vina Kindred; husband, Osvel Brown “Oscar” in 2005; brother, Ellis Kindred in 2006; sister, Dorcas Morris in 2023; daughter, Christine Matheson in 1996; and son, David Brown in 2009

Desta is survived by her sister, Joann Middlestetter; 3 sons, Gary Williams, Roger & Connie Williams, and Charles & Anna Williams; also 9 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and friends

She worked at the fireworks store on Union Road until one of the buildings exploded. After leaving, her father told her to go back to work and she didn’t. Instead, Desta got a job at Auto Value. She then married Osvel Litton Brown “Oscar” on September 14, 1962 and they had one son, David Kevin Brown. Desta then worked at the Salem Mall in retail and then the bakery. She also worked at Rikes and retired when it was called Macy’s.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00pm with food and fellowship to follow until 5pm on Sunday, March 30th, 2025 at Rogers Funeral Home in New Lebanon. www.RogersFuneralHomes.com
