HUNN, Diana M. Diana M. Hunn died on June 3, 2015, in Dayton after a long battle with cancer. She was born on November 3, 1949, in Dayton. She was preceded in death by her mother & friend Juanita (Dillon) Hunn and her father Adolph (Junie) Hunn. She is survived by her sister Anita L. House (Don) of West Alexandria, nephew Clinton House (Lyndsay) of Eaton, niece Valerie Durkle (Wesley) of Eaton, great niece and nephews Wyatt House, Morgan House, Zion Durkle, Bexley Durkle, and Juna Durkle, and many special cousins. Diana also had many beloved friends, dear Sorority Sisters and University of Dayton friends. Diana was a longtime member of Slifer’s Presbyterian Church, Farmersville, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star at Farmersville Chapter #155, past Honor Queen of the Middletown Job’s Daughters, past Worthy Advisor of the Farmersville Rainbow for Girls, and a member and President of the Signa, Signa, Signa Sorority. She graduated from Dixie High School, New Lebanon, in 1968. Dr. Hunn earned her B.S. in science education and M.Ed. in curriculum and supervision from Miami University. She received her Ph.D. in Science and Environmental Education from Indiana University. Dr. Hunn was a science teacher at Northmont Local Schools and the Montgomery County Joint Vocational School. She was an Assistant Professor of Science Education at both Indiana University – Kokomo and the University of Akron before going to the University of Dayton in 1992. Dr. Hunn taught science methods courses for early childhood, middle childhood and adolescence to young adult education students and research courses for graduate students. She worked as an evaluator on several externally funded grant projects. Dr. Hunn was a lifetime member of the National Science Teachers Association, North American Association for Environmental Education, Science Education Council of Ohio, Environmental Education Council of Ohio, Ohio Academy of Science, Indiana University Alumni Association, and Miami University Alumni Association. Dr. Hunn was awarded the 2015 Finlay-Johnson Award by the Environmental Educational Council of Ohio in recognition of her significant contributions to environmental education in Ohio. The family wishes to thank many beloved relatives and friends who sent prayers, cards, and wishes the past weeks. Thanks also to the caring medical staff at Miami Valley Hospital. Donations may be made to the charity of your choice. A Visitation will be held Saturday, June 6 from 10AM to 11AM at Slifer’s Presbyterian Church, 2999 S. Clayton Rd., Farmersville, 45325. An Order of Eastern Star Service will begin at 11AM with Funeral Service to follow with Pastor Angie Schenck officiating. Burial to follow at Trissel Cemetery, New Lebanon.
