Dirk Harms

Dirk Harms Age 97, of Brookville, went to be with his Lord, Tuesday, Sept 28, 2021. He was the son of John and Emmi Harms. Dirk was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Marcella. Dirk will forever be remembered by his three children and their spouses; Cindy (Harms) Freed and Greg of Columbus, Cherie (Harms) Warner and Paul of Eaton Rapids, Michigan, and David Harms and Shari of Brookville; his grandchildren, Travis (Ashley), Cody, Megan , Jamie (Rob), Andre and Deanna (Marcus); and his great grandchildren, Lilah, Easton, Eva, Gianni, Cade and another great grandson to be born next week. Dirk was preceded in death by his sister, Renate Wittebort. Dirk emigrated with his family from Germany in 1929 and has lived in the Brookville area since then. As a teenager, he began farming and milking cows with his parents. He served in the army during WWII in Japan. After the war, Dirk, his wife and children all worked together over the years to build the farm to a 100 cow dairy. Dirk, Marcella, David and Shari continued to build their farm together for many more years and Dirk was still helping with the work until 2 years ago. He loved people, he loved to work and he loved farming. Dirk and Marcella attended Gateway Baptist Church. Friends and family may wish to visit from 10:00 am to noon on Thursday, Oct 7 at the Brookville Grace Brethren Church, Westbrook Rd. (937) 833-5562. Visitation and Funeral will be held under a tent at the church. Funeral services will be held at noon. Interment will follow at Eversole Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Dayton.
