McKIBBEN, Dixie Faye 93, passed on to heaven on April 22, 2015 from Traditions in Chillicothe. She was born in 1921 in Jefferson, Ohio to Walter and Vestula (Pogue) Wakeman. On September 14, 1941, she married Robert F. McKibben. Dixie is survived by her daughter, Muriel Weaver of Chillicothe; grandchildren, Meva (Charles) Kennedy [Chillicothe], Kelly Weaver-Putfer, Christopher (Denise) Weaver, Melissa (Cory) Flemming [all of Columbus, OH], Dawn McKibben [Dayton, OH]. & Thomas S. McKibben [Knoxville, TN]; 10 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and many more nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Thomas O. McKibben; 2 sisters, Doris Miller and Virginia Simmons; and a brother, Robert Wakeman. Dixie grew up in Ashtabula, Ohio, but the family wintered in Meridian, Mississippi with a family of 12 cousins. She loved her life in Mississippi. After graduation, she studied piano at the Cleveland Institute of Music and then gave piano lessons for most her life. She was co-owner of Visual Methods; a class-piano method that was taught in many of the Dayton area schools, and she served as church pianist for many years. She loved to write, and was on the editorial board for the Dayton Daily News. She never knew a stranger; loving to converse with folks. She was a voracious reader; enjoyed square dancing, gardening, & hosting a party. She was a wonderful hostess, with her home open to many visitors & travelers. The family would like to extend its thanks for the years of gracious and loving care, given by the wonderful staff at Traditions of Chillicothe.
