Doris Irene Payne

Age 90 of Englewood, Ohio passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 14, 2025 at 1pm, at Kettering Medical Center Dayton, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Dayton, Ohio on September 12, 1935 to her parents, Joseph Pierce and Mary Florence (Brewer) Pierce.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 children, Anthony Wayne Lewis and Mary Ellen Henson; and 8 siblings, Virgil, Frank, Gerald, Harry, Juanita, June, Jack, and Marcella.

Doris is survived by 2 sons, Ronald Eugene Lewis and David Lewis; son-in-law, William Henson; nieces, Neva Phillips; Yvonne Kronenberger, and Debbie Gibson; nephew, Micheal Honious; grandchildren, Brian and Kristen, Carl, Richard, and Jessica Lewis, Jesse and Elizabeth Lewis, and Holly Blake; great grandchildren, Caitlyn, Charlotte, Dylan, Evan, Aiden, Leanne, Abby, Chandler, Samantha, Ryan, Nathan, Isaiah, Christy-Jo, and Riley; and special caregiver, Bonnie (Henson) Roderer.

Doris grew up at 720 Washington Street, Dayton, Ohio. She graduated from Patterson Co-op High School. After divorcing her first husband, she raised their 4 children on her own. Often working 2-3 jobs to provide for her family. Later in life Doris attended Sinclair Community College to obtain her Certificate in Dietary Management. She served as a Dietician Manager at the childcare center at UD for many years.

Visitation will be held at Rogers Funeral Home in New Lebanon, Ohio from 10am-12pm with funeral service to begin at 12:00pm on Saturday, October 18, 2025. Interment will follow at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery. www.RogersFuneralHomes.com
