Edith “Edy”(Dalton) McKenzie, age 95, of Springboro, Ohio, passed away Aug 13, 2026, in the home of her Goddaughter Charla and husband Steve Scovil, in the privacy she requested, surrounded by love, and supported by Hospice. She was born June 25, 1931 in Franklin Ohio, as the eldest of three children, to Nora (Dexter) and James Lee Dalton.

Edith graduated from Franklin High School in 1949 and started modeling for various Dayton clothing stores. She then worked for Frigidaire and General Motors (GM) from 1949 to 1987, rising in rank from Teletype Operator (1949), to Stenographer (1956), to Adjuster for the Benefit Plans for the Frigidaire Division (1957-1972) to Workers Compensation Administrator (1972-1981) to Supervisor of Benefits for both the Moraine Engine plant and Frigidaire Division, GM Corp. Edith earned a B.A. Degree in Business Administration, from Capital University, Columbus Ohio (1982). Edith served as the Secretary, Treasurer, and Vice Chair of the General Motors Ohio Workers’ Compensation Operating Committee (1972-1987). She also served as Secretary, then Vice President, then President of the Southwestern Ohio Self-Insurers Association. She retired from GM in 1987 and worked as a Paralegal for the Law Firm of Crew, Buchanan, & Lowe (1988-@2000).

Edith also held a Real Estate License (1966-1972), was Co-owner/Co-Operator of Tri-State Striping Inc. (1972-1981), was Co-owner/Co-Operator of their farm in Wilmington, Ohio (1973-1978) and established the Non-Profit Charitable Rio Grande Music Festival with the proceeds given to several community school music programs (late approximately 2000-2014).

Edy had an adventurous spirit, learning to fly an airplane, riding motorcycles, driving Corvettes and other sports cars. Edith’s hobbies included: Reading, collecting antique clocks, swimming, traveling, camping, playing table games, roller skating, assisting with music “jams” (in their winter home, Siesta Village, Texas), and gathering with family and friends. She loved God and was known most for her ability to make all those around her feel loved.

Edith was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 59 yrs, Eugene McKenzie Jr, parents Nora (Dexter) and James Lee Dalton, Brothers Clarence Dalton (Ann), and Earl Dalton. She is survived by her Step-children, Jan Alan McKenzie and Darla Pauley (Glenn Hensley), God-daughter, Charla (Blackburn) Scovil (Steve), grandchildren Ian McKenzie, Rachel Kinnear, Kenneth Pauley (Vanessa), Matthew Doucette, Nephews James “Jim” Dalton (Hollie), Michael “Mike” Dalton (Nicole), Michael “Jeffrey” Dalton, many step Nephews, Nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces, and step great-grandson Mason McKenzie.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Sept.12, 2026, at the Miamisburg Seventh-Day, Adventist Church 2155 Leiter Rd., Miamisburg, Ohio 45342. Visitation from 3-4 p.m., Memorial Service 4-5 p.m (service will be live streamed).
