COMER, Edward “Ed” William Age 87, a lifelong resident of New Lebanon, passed away early Thursday morning, May 12, 2011. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul & Sarah Comer; 1 brother, Marvin; his grandson, Heath Douglas Comer; and son-in-law, Ted Halsey. Ed is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Doris; his 3 children, Ron (Marcia) Comer, Saundra Halsey, and Kimberly Mackie; grandchildren, Aaron Comer, Lance (Angie) Comer, Joe (Stacy) Eblin, and Brianna Eblin; 1 brother, Paul Comer, Jr. great-grandchildren, Bridgette, Lyla, and Alivia Comer; and many more family members and friends. Ed was village constable and police chief, and a retired fire chief of New Lebanon. He also worked and retired from NCR. He was a chairman for radio communication for police and fire in western Montgomery County and helped radio communication become what it is today. Ed served on the city council for many years and was chairman for the sanitary sewer system. He served in the U.S. Army and was a proud WWII Veteran. He had been awarded the Purple Heart and was a member of civil defense after WWII. Ed was a lifelong member of the Brookville VFW# 3288, the New Lebanon American Legion #762 and a member of the Masonic Lodge #482 in Farmersville since 1949. A celebration of Ed’s life will be held 11:00 AM Monday, May 16, 2011 at ROGERS’ FUNERAL HOME, NEW LEBANON with Pastor Bill Walk officiating. Interment will follow at Preble Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday afternoon from 2:00 – 5:00 PM. Masonic services will begin at 5:00. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children- Cincinnati, 3229 Burnet Ave., Cincinnati, OH 45229 in Memory of Ed.
