Elizabeth Elaine "Betsy" Eby

EBY, Elizabeth “Betsy” Elaine 56 of Trotwood, OH passed away on March 30, 2016, from lung cancer at home on the family farm built by her great grandparents Daniel and Harriet (Smith) Eby beginning in the 1880’s. Betsy was preceded in death by her parents, John Howard Eby, Jr. and Hilda Marie Mayer Eby. She is survived by Bruce Kettelle, her loving life partner of 27 years; older sister, Susan Harla; nephew, Daniel, and niece, Natalie of Naperville, IL; niece, Jessica Cordeiro of Cedar Park, TX; and step-daughter, Heather Quick of Murrels Inlet, SC. Betsy and Bruce came to Trotwood from Mt. Pleasant, SC in 1994 to care for her Grandmother Kathryn. She has been a dedicated farmer and community steward contributing time on city committees, events, and festivals. She previously enjoyed a challenging career in civil engineering design work mostly for Davis and Floyd of Charleston SC. Betsy is remembered for her strong will and perseverance, caring friendships, flower gardens and progressive views. A memorial service is being planned for later this spring on the family farm.
