On October 6, 2021, Ella Shope (60) was called home to be with the Lord after a brief battle with cancer. Born on November 14, 1960, to parents William Jasper Earls and Shirley Griffith Earls in Vicco, Kentucky, Ella dedicated her life to her family as a loving and devoted mother, wife, sister, aunt and great-aunt. She is survived by her husband of 20 years and the love of her life, Anthony Wade Shope, son James (Danielle) Amburgey, step-sons Joshua Shope and Matthew (Allison) Shope; siblings Jo-Ann Earls, America (Sam) Holdcraft, Ivan (Elva) Earls, Zelma (Louis) Alcade, Wilma Honeycutt, Lena Stoltz, Tammie (Anthony Sturdivant) Earls, Danny Earls, Leroy (Esther) Earls, Ernie Earls, Sonnie Earls, and Carol Earls; niece Shannon (Kevin) Allen and their children Alexandria, Vincent, Penelope, Kendrick and many other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Ella was preceded in death by her parents, Junior Amburgey, Donnie Earls, Jimmie Ray Earls, Ron Honeycutt and Sylvia Earls. Ella was a proud Kentuckian through and through with a strong work ethic and fierce commitment to her family. A high school graduate of Dilce Combs High School, she went on to earn her beautician license in Ohio, then later worked for Delphi (General Motors) in Moraine for over 14 years. Despite working long hours and raising three boys, Ella had no shortage of hobbies. She enjoyed everything from painting, puzzles, crafting and reading to hunting, fishing, and playing in a pool league with her sister. She’ll also be remembered by her family and friends for her love of popsicles, candy and, of course, coffee. The unique connection Ella had with children will be her ever-lasting legacy. She loved all children like her own and had a special way of inspiring them. Besides teaching her sons and many nieces and nephews how to read and write, she was a steadfast member and volunteer at First Baptist Church of New Lebanon for 19 years, where she led children’s programs and Vacation Bible school. Ella will be forever missed by her family and friends, who will remember her as a devout Christian, a thoughtful listener, the kindest spirit, and a beautiful soul. A memorial service to celebrate Ella’s life will be held at First Baptist Church of New Lebanon (335 South Church Street, New Lebanon, Ohio 45345) on November 15, 2021. A meal will be available at 4 pm with the service to follow, starting at approximately 6 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to honor Ella can be made to First Baptist Church of New Lebanon: https://app.easytithe.com/App/Giving/fbcnl
