BURNETT, Ellsworth G. Age 92 of West Alexandria, formerly of New Lebanon and resident of Heartland of Eaton, passed away early Wed. morning, March 23, 2011 at Good Samaritan Hospital. He was born on Aug. 28, 1918 on Fudge Rd. in Gratis, OH, to the late William & Alta (Gregg) Burnett. He was a 1936 graduate of Dixie High School and attended Wilmington College. Ellsworth was a prominent area farmer and cattle buyer. He was well known at the Producers Sale Barn in Eaton on Tuesday’s. Ellsworth was a lifetime member of Trinity United Church of Christ in New Lebanon where he was a past Elder and choir member. He was also a lifetime member of Twin Valley Rod and Gun Club, the Ohio State Alumnus, and a past Board member of the Montgomery Co. Farm Bureau. A member of the New Lebanon Rotary Club (past President), W. Alexandria American Legion #322, and the New Lebanon American Legion #762. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved to hunt big game in the Canadian Rockies, Alaska, and enjoyed visiting the North Pole. Eventually, he became a conservationist of wild animals. Preceded in death by his step-son, Kevin, and brother, Omer Lee. Survived by his wife, Nancy; son, Gregg of New Lebanon; former daughter-in-law, Sandy (Scott) Jackson of Neemah, WI; grandchildren, Drew, Joseph, and Ellie; sister-in-law & brother-in-law, Carol & Bill Schreiber of New Lebanon; niece, Mindy Arnett of Miamisburg; nephews, Dean Schreiber of New Lebanon, and Daniel Schreiber of New York; great nieces and nephews and numerous relatives and friends. Services will be held 12:00 noon on Wed. March 30, 2011 at Trinity United Church of Christ, 1830 W. Main St., New Lebanon, OH 45345, with Pastors Bobbie Predmore, Clyde Waites, and Christopher Carr officiating. Interment will follow at Twin Valley Cemetery in West Alexandria. Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday evening at ROGERS’ FUNERAL HOME in NEW LEBANON, 324 W. Main St. The family requests no memorials be made to Hospice of Dayton, but would prefer flowers be sent.
