SMITH, Elsie E. Age 85 of Dayton, passed away Saturday, November 15, 2014. She was born in Pine Knot, KY on Jan. 30, 1929 to her parents, Sherman & Etta Ball. She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son; her husband, Floyd Smith; 3 sisters, Pauline Webb, Fay Portwood, and Alene Haston; and 3 brothers, Lewie, Don, and Dillard Ball. Elsie is survived by her son, Billy (Gail) Smith; 2 daughters, Doris Hunnel, and Annie (Jerry) Leonard; brother, Bennie; 8 grandchildren and their significant others, Scott (Mary Lynn), Todd (Chris), Rodney (Shannon), and Ashley (Wayne), Sonny (Heather), Tammy (Aaron), Terry (Lori), and Kelly(Rick); 25 great-grandchildren, Lindsey, Scotty, Joe, Candace, Cassie, Erica, Camron, Skylar, Mikayla, Rod, Kendra, Courtney, Trinity, Wayne, Drake, Kalie, Justin, Ryan, Paige, Halie, Brandy, Chelsea, Jacob, Autumn, and Caleb; 3 great-great grandchildren; Justin Jr., Corbin, and Lincoln Micah; and numerous nieces, nephews, family members, and friends. Elsie was owner and operator of Smith’s Wreaths, Smith Produce, and Elsie’s Flowers. She enjoyed her family and friends that brought her so much laughter and happiness. Elsie is known to the neighborhood children as “Grandma” to this day by all. Special thank you to all her caregivers, especially Sally Clements & Phyllis Atkinson, for all their love and friendship. Visitation will be held 4-7 PM on Wednesday, Nov. 19 at Rogers’ Funeral Home in New Lebanon. Funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, also at the Funeral Home.
