Emerson D. Shank

Age 86 of Beavercreek, passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2024. He was born in Dayton, Ohio on June 30, 1938 in Dayton to his parents, Ivan Joe Shank & Monette (Somers) Shank.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step mother, Opal (Dickey) Shank.

Emerson is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Linda Shank; son, Joseph D. “Joe” (Cheryl) Shank; 3 daughters, Belinda Kay (Keith) Cost, Ivy Jo (Adam) Blake, and Rebecca Ann (Kyle) Sherwood; brother, Kenneth Shank; grandchildren, Jeff (Tabitha), Justin (Sarah), Jessica (Don), Sydney (David), Jacob, Benjamin (Haelee), Seth, Madison, Thomas, and Karson; and great grandchildren, Wyatt, Mason, Weslie, Peyton Jo, and Will; and numerous nieces nephews, extended family and friends.

Emerson was a graduate of Trotwood-Madison High School in 1956. He worked for Coca-Cola for many years and was also owner of Dayton Ice Machine and Scotsman Mid-Ohio where he eventually retired. He was a member of the Brookville Masonic Lodge, Antioch Shriners, and Scottish Rite 32-degree Valley of Dayton. He was a past member of Trotwood Church of the Brethren and current member of the Tipp City United Methodist Church for many years. Emerson was also a member of the Dayton Restaurant Assoc., SCORE, Stephen Minister, and Promise Keepers. Emerson and his wife, Linda, served as Chaplains for the Billy Graham Rapid Response Team, and Emerson was also a City of Hope recipient. He also loved being an usher for 16 years at Spring Training Boston Red Sox Ft. Myers, Florida. Emerson enjoyed traveling and loved his grandchildren very much. He was loved and will be deeply missed by those that knew him.

Visitation will be held from 10am-12pm with funeral to begin at 12:00pm on Thursday, October 17th, 2024 at Rogers Funeral Home in New Lebanon. Interment will follow at Arlington Cemetery.
