Frances L. Brown

BROWN, Frances L. (Loos) Age 84 of Trotwood, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 7, 2014 at the Maria Joseph Center. She was born on May 11, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois to her parents, Irvin & Stella (Calcaterra) Loos. Frances was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Jacqueline L. Brown; ex-husband and friend, Jack F. Brown; and brother, Frank E. Loos. She is survived by 2 sons, David G. Stallman, and Michael H. Stallman; 2 daughters, Cathleen F. Koziol, and Teresa Marie and wife Dorothy Oakes; also, granddaughter, Jacqueline L. Fogle. As a child Frances worked with her Uncle Orville and Aunt Maggie Loos at their restaurant, Maggie's Place, on North Dixie. She was an entrepreneur. She was a democratic political activist and worked on many campaigns. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in social work from University of Dayton and tended bar at the Apartment and Tender Trap years ago. Frances started the FISH food pantry in Trotwood in the 1970's and started the Dayton Chapter of Parents of Murdered Children in 1986. She managed St. Mark U.M.C. Childcare on Free Pike and eventually retired from the Dayton V.A. after 10+ years of service in the Canteen. She was very creative and enjoyed art, reading, and traveling. She also loved playing cards and spending time with her family and friends. She was a great mother, wonderful cook, and most of all, a beautiful light. She will be missed by all who knew her.
