Gardner H. Benson

BENSON, Gardner Henry, born June 9, 1924, went to be with his Lord and Savior on December 14, 2017. Gardner is preceded in death by his parents, Leonadrd and Millicent Benson, sister Martha, first wife Emma, and son Paul. He is survived by wife, Ellen Hunn Benson, son David and his wife Diane Benson, daughter-in-law Cynthia Benson, grandchildren Caren (David) Swanson, Lindsey (Scott) Allenby, Carmen (Jeremy) Palmquist, Jon (Meredith) Benson, and 10 great-grandchildren. Gardner is also survived by his sister, Addie Progen, and step-daughters, Linda (Gary) Billings, Lynne (Eric) Magel, Denise (Charles) Alford, and Paula (David) Fickel and their families. Gardner was born in Concord, Massachusetts. He was a World War II Army Veteran and he owned The Country Press in New London, New Hampshire. Gardner retired from being a printer and lived in Florida for many years. He moved to New Lebanon, Ohio in 2008 and enjoyed attending First Baptist Church New Lebanon. Gardner also enjoyed taking rides on the back roads of Preble County with Paula. Visitation will be held from 10:30am to 11:30am with funeral to follow at 11:30 am on Monday, December 18, 2017 at Rogers’ Funeral Home in New Lebanon. Pastor Stephen Betts officiating.
