Garland Lin Crews

CREWS, Garland Lin Age 64 of West Alexandria, Ohio, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, May 19, 2013. Preceded in death by his parents, Philbert & Ella; brothers, Roger & Jerry; and his wife, Jill. Family survivors include his seven children from his 16 years of marriage with Jill; Anna Welsh, Debbie (Dennis) Givens, Karen (Jason) Watson, Sheila J. Crews, Julie Burton, Sarah Jewett, and Michael Lin Crews; three brothers, Dave (Ruby), Rick (Mary Lou), and Randy (Debbie Kay); four sisters, Joyce (Vernon) Smith, Judy Gibson, Rhonda Finney, and Rita (Steve) Welch; and also numerous nieces, nephews and their families. Lin is also survived by his wife, Carol of 27 years, and step-daughters, April (Don) Howell, and Cindy (Randy) Barty; 17 grandchildren, Kimberly (Ryan) Wagerman, Jill (Jeremy) Gratsch, Dennis Jr., Brandon, Miranda, Olivia, Lauren, Cheyenne, Preston, Jocelynn, Mylan, Michael Lin II, Mason, Michele, Justin, Nathan, and Hannah. Lin served his country with the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed playing softball and umpired ASA softball with Greater Dayton. He was given the nickname "Tennis Shoes" from many years of racing field trial dogs. Lin was raised in a large Christian family but found a stronger love for the Lord in 1998. He attended Union Road Pentecostal Church. Visitation will be held at Rogers' Funeral Home, 324 W. Main St., New Lebanon 45345 on Wednesday evening from 5-8PM. Funeral service will also be at the funeral home on Thursday morning at 11:00AM with Brother Clifford Hurst officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Trotwood. Our family would like to thank everyone from Hospice of Dayton and the Crisis Care Team who gave their time, care, and encouragement during Lin's illness. You have been a blessing for us.
