George W. Allen

December 17, 1928 — July 5, 2017

ALLEN, George W. Age 88, of Dayton, peacefully passed away at his home Wednesday July 5, 2017. He was born December 17, 1928 in Dayton to the late Carl and Helen Allen. George was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 58 years, Virginia; son, Russell; and 3 sisters and brothers-in-law. He is survived by his daughter, Cindy (Tom) Prich; grandchildren, Tom and Tyler Prich and Matt (Kelly) Stahley; great grandson, Conner Allen Stahley; and numerous nieces and nephews. George was a proud veteran of the US Army serving during the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed fishing at his cottage at St. Mary’s. Loved watching the Red’s and managing little league baseball. He was a very generous person. He was a volunteer fireman for Harrison Township for years. He was loved by many and when asked how he was doing would say he was “fat and sassy.” The family gives special thanks to George’s caregiver, Beverly; neighbors, Penny and Tim, Hospice of Dayton, and Beavercreek Goodwill Easter Seals Adult Services for their care. The visitation will be 11AM to 12PM on Sunday July 9 at ROGERS’ FUNERAL HOME, Trotwood. The funeral service will begin at 12PM with Pastor Ruby Harp officiating. Burial with military honors to follow at Willow View Cemetery, Dayton. If desired, contributions in George’s memory may be made to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave, Dayton, 45420 or to AIM for the Handicapped, 945 Danbury Rd, Dayton, 45420.
