THATCHER Harry B., Jr. “JR”

Age 80, of New Lebanon, passed away on Monday, September 4, 2022. He was preceded in death by his father, Harry Thatcher, Sr.; mother, Geneva Thatcher; 2 sisters, Norma Ruth Thatcher and Jean Grisham; and brother, Jerry Thatcher.

JR is survived by his son, Craig Thatcher; daughter, Tawana Rakes; 2 grandsons, Aidan Thatcher and Hudson Thatcher; granddaughter, Angelique Solano; ex-wife, Sherry Thatcher; and daughter-in-law, Kim Middleton.

JR was born in Lynx, Ohio and was the 2nd of 4 children. He served in the Air Force for many years and retired from General Motors after 32 years. JR bought property in New Lebanon where he stayed in his camper in the pole barn while his beautiful home was being built. He started his mulch and excavating business “Thatcher’s Trucking” and was known around the community as the “the mulch man.” JR was a very hard-working man who was passionate about his business. He was an avid hunter & fisherman. He spent a lot of time with his friends and son Craig hunting for “the big one.” JR was also a Harley guy through and through and had a great love for old cars. He was a self-taught man of many things.

To his friends and customers, he was known for being a sweet man who would do anything for anyone. To his family, he was hard working, funny and stubborn. He will be greatly missed by his son Craig and his family. You will forever be in our hearts JR. We love you, Harry.

Visitation will be held from 5-7pm with funeral service to follow at 7:00pm on Monday, September 12, 2022 at Rogers Funeral Home New Lebanon. Pastor Donnie Smith officiating. A graveside burial will take place at 1:00pm on Tuesday at East Liberty Cemetery in Lynx, Ohio. www.RogersFuneralHomes.com.
