BAKER, Herman Franklin

Age 81, of Dayton, Ohio, went to his Heavenly Home on Tuesday, November 22, 2022. He was born in Branchland, West Virginia, on February 9, 1941 to his parents, Benjamin and Ida (Curry) Baker. Herman is survived by his wife, Joyce; his loving children, Carol Lewis, Sheila (Darryl) Ahner, and Brian (Gretchen) Baker; his eight grandchildren, Caleb and Luke Severt, Joshua, Jeremy (Courtney), Kristen, and Kathleen Ahner, and Milyke and Michelle Baker; and 3 great grandchildren. You could often find Herman with a black coffee in hand walking laps at the mall, shooting free throws at the YMCA, and cheering on his children and grandchildren at every sporting event. More than anything, Herman devoted his life to serving God and others through military service, working at Christian Life Center, and lending a helping hand to his friends and neighbors. He brought his quick wit and dry humor to every situation and will be remembered for his strength through adversity, to include his final battle with dementia. A celebration of Herman’s life will be held at 3:00pm on Thursday, December 22, 2022 at Alpha Community Church, 806 Alpha Rd., Alpha, Ohio 45301. Pastor Sheila Sloan officiating.
