Baumgardner, Hoyt Age 75, of Brookville, OH passed away Thursday, September 08, 2011 surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hoyt and Dora Baumgardner and infant great grandson, Jason Paul Kraft. He is survived by his loving wife Emma (McIntosh) of 57 years, and his three daughters, June (Gene) Kunk of Vandalia, OH, Gina (Stephen) Rigler of Brookville, OH, and Lisa Baumgardner (Fiancée Russ Baker) of Brookville, OH, 6 grandchildren, Amanda (Jason), Kimberly (Todd), Jason (Andrea), Travis (Jamie), Nikole (Bryan), and Nichelle, also survived by 17 great grandchildren. Sisters, Delores Mullins of Brooklyn, MI, Gloria (Jim) Losey of Greenfield, OH, Donna (Steve) Williams of Brookville, OH, and Karen Howard of Sidney, OH, and many more dear family members and friends. The family would like to thank Acclaim Hospice for the special care given during his difficult journey. Hoyt graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1953. He began his career with the Dayton Police Department in 1960 he served for 28 years. After retiring he worked for the Miami Valley Regional Crime Lab from 1988 until 2000. He was the supervisor of the Latent Fingerprint Division. Some of his many accomplishments include being awarded Outstanding Police Officer of the Year in 1986. He was a L.A.I. Certified Latent Print Examiner-Crime Scene Analyst, Fingerprint Consultant, Instructor, and Case Examination: he was a recipient for the Office of Special Investigations from the United States Air Force and numerous extraordinary service awards. He was also a Past President of Ohio Identification Association, a member of Worldwide Fingerprint Association, and a Mason with the Masonic Temple in Brookville, Ohio. Hoyt loved traveling, flea markets, auctions, and spending time with his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and our hero. Hoyt will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A Celebration of Hoyt's life will be held 11:00 AM Monday, September 12, 2011 at Rogers' Funeral Home, 324 W. Main St., New Lebanon, with Pastor Bob Kurtz officiating. Interment will follow at Trissel Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Sunday evening. Masonic services will follow at 8:00 PM.
