James C. “Jim” Garries Went home to be with Jesus on February 13, 2022 in his New Lebanon apartment he left this world peacefully. Jim was born July 20, 1944 in Pineville, Kentucky. He lived many places, including Michigan, Alaska, Florida, and Ohio. Jim was a very talented man: he was in the Army, a bus driver, a construction worker, and the owner of a hot dog café. He loved his Dog, Rover, bowling, playing cards, watching NASCAR, and the Dallas Cowboys. Jim also loved his FHMCC Church family and his brothers in his Iron Man group. He was preceded in death by his father, Henry B. Garries; mother, Alice Garries; brothers, William Lee Garries, Raymond Garries. Jim was survived by his loving sister, Henry Ann of Drexel; daughter, Cynthia of New Lebanon; sons, Jeff (Sandy) of Kettering, Jerry Wayne of Dayton, James K. “Bo” of Dayton. He had many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins he loved dearly. Jim was a proud grandfather of many grandchildren and a few great-grandchildren. He is also leaving behind his Angel, Penny; great friend, Susan, Big D (Marc), Road Dog (Phillip); great friends, Myron and Grace from Middletown whom all were with him until the end. Jim will be missed and always remembered for his laughter and his “well hell no yes” Visitation for Jim will be held on Friday, March 4, 2022 at Rogers Funeral Home in New Lebanon from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., with the funeral service to be held at 12:30 p.m. Interment to follow at Dayton National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the funeral home to help the family with the cost of the funeral.
