James "Jim" Nolan Miller

MILLER, James “Jim” Nolan Age 87, of New Lebanon, OH passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at Brookhaven Nursing Home in Brookville, OH. Born in Dayton, Ohio on April 8, 1927 to Dorothy (Shank) and Howard R. Miller Sr. Jim graduated from Dixie High School in 1945. He was a WWII Veteran having served in the US Navy in Guam. He retired from the US Post Office in 1984 after 34 years of service. He was a former member of the New Lebanon Fire Department, New Lebanon American Legion Post 762 and a member at the Trinity United Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 47 years, Anne (Porter), his parents, step mother, Farol, mother and father in law, Pearl and Hugh Porter, brother, Howard Miller Jr, step sister, Gareldine Newman, infant daughter Dorothy Diane and close friends, Walt and Mary Yost. Those left to cherish his memory include sons, Gene and wife Debbie of Kernersville, NC, and Ken and wife Luann of New Lebanon. OH; grandchildren, David (Christina), Matt (Jennifer), Megan, Heidi, Marcus (Deanna), Ryan (Sarah), and Nick (Amanda); great-grandchildren, Tyler, Julia, Kenna, Nikolas, Zachary, Sara, Annie, Emily, Jillian, Troy, Gwendolyn, Mason, Grace, Colton and Nolan; brother in law, Paul Porter of Riverdale, GA; sister in law, Naomi Miller of Bradenton, FL; three nephews, numerous family, friends and a very close friend Charlie Frederick . The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Hospice of Dayton and their Crisis Care Team and Brookhaven Nursing Home for their kindness and care during his illness. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity United Church of Christ or Hospice of Dayton. Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM on Friday at Rogers Funeral Home in New Lebanon. Funeral will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, March 21 at Trinity United Church of Christ with Pastor Bobbie Predmore officiating.
