James retired from the Dayton Police Department as a Sergeant after 35 years of service. He was a great police officer and supervisor and was immensely proud of his line of work. He gained a lot of friends during his time with the City and remained close with many of them, in particular, Wayne Scott, Melvin Dulin, Steve Clark, Karen Clark, Charles Edwards, Charlie Conrad, Kenny Soward, Sandi Thorp, and Erick Hamby.
James was a die-hard fan of the Cincinnati Bengals, even when they didn’t win, and closely followed Ohio State Buckeyes football, and the Cincinnati Reds. He also enjoyed drag racing with Roy, Dale, Charlotte, and Stephanie and had a great love of cars. But most of all, James loved his family. He was incredibly generous and did all he could to help everyone with anything they needed. He was a caring, loving, amazing Son, Brother, Father, and Friend, and he will be greatly missed by all of us.
