Joan K. (Wright) Shank

SHANK (Wright), Joan K. Age 69, of Trotwood, OH born in Greenville, Ohio on March 24, 1942, went to join her Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 07, 2012. Preceded in death by her late mother & father, Ruth & Paul Wright. Joanie was a devoted wife, sister, loving mother, and cherished grandmother who made her house a home for precious memories. Survived by her husband of 48 years, Ken Shank; 3 children, Kenny (Carrie) Shank of Amelia, OH, Kenda (Jeff) Jefferson of Union City, GA, and Kerry (Monica) Shank of Trotwood; 9 grandchildren, Courtney, Lindsay, Brendan & Cameron Shank of Amelia, OH, Malik & Marissa Jefferson of Union City, GA, A.J. Jefferson of Clarksville, TN, Andrew Jordan-Henderson of Trotwood, and Patricia Henderson of Las Vegas, NV; 2 brothers, Tom Wright of Bowling Green, OH & Phil (Julie) Wright of Mansfield, MA and a host of nieces, nephews, & cousins who enjoyed her loving and caring ways. Joan retired from T-M City Schools after 30 years in food service where she enjoyed every student she met. She enjoyed making & sharing her homemade chicken pot pie dinners at the Trotwood Masonic Lodge for over 30 years. Nothing could dampen her spirit of giving and caring for others. She always had a suitcase packed ready to go traveling. She was instrumental in the organizing and planning of her T-M High School class reunions. Joanie was a devoted member of the Trotwood Church of the Brethren for over 45 years, and served as a faithful Deacon for the majority of those years. Visitation will be held at the Trotwood Church of the Brethren, 208 E. Main St. Trotwood, OH 45426 on Tuesday evening from 4 to 8 PM and also Wednesday from 10 to 11 AM. A Celebration of Joanie's life will follow at the visitation at the church at 11:00 with Pastors Paula Bowser and Glenn Timmons officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
