COFFMAN, John Allen Kelly, III Age 73, of New Lebanon, Ohio went peacefully to his eternal home with his beloved family and pastor by his side on April 22, 2022 at Miami Valley Hospital. John was born in Hamilton, Ohio on January 28, 1949 to Rebecca Coffman (nee McDonald) and Frank L. Coffman. John was a graduate of Eaton High School, Sinclair Community College, and Capital University. He proudly served in the United States Naval Reserves for six years. After his Naval career, John went on to become a Deputy for Preble County Sheriff’s Office followed by a long career with Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. During this time, he also joined the Fraternal Order of Police. After retiring, John spent a year teaching English as a second language in Kosice, Slovakia as part of a mission outreach program for Lutheran social services. John and Connie sponsored four young ladies from Slovakia to attend a year of high school in the United States. All four graduated with honors from their respective high schools. They are Livia Belescakova, Timea Anderson (nee Paulinova), Andrea Fizel (nee Stancakova), and Evi Dolezolova. After returning, John taught school at the Lutheran School of the Miami Valley and became Vice-Principal. In his spare time, John Enjoyed riding his motorcycle, visiting family and friends out of town, participating in Sunday morning Bible Study, participating in meetings with the Blue Knights and the Sheriff’s Retiree group. He enjoyed Sunday dinners with his beloved family, and thoroughly enjoyed the time he spent with his two grandchildren. John was preceded in death by his parents and his mother and father-in-law, Richard and Bernice Tamplin. John is survived by his lovely bride, Connie Coffman (nee Tamplin). They were married on July 12, 1968 at Salem Lutheran Church in West Alexandria, Ohio. Also surviving is their beloved only son, John Allen Kelly Coffman, IV and his daughter-in-law, Kelly Kierstyn Coffman; and two special grandchildren, John Allen Kelly Coffman, V., and Kierstyn Rebecca Coffman. Also surviving is his brother, Frank L. Coffman, Jr. and a sister, Sylvia (Dan) McIntosh; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 25, 2022 at Rogers Funeral Home in New Lebanon, Ohio from 5-8pm. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 in Eaton, Ohio at Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor Dwight Hanson officiating. There will be a visitation from 10-11am and the service will begin at 11am. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in West Alexandria.
