John K. Matheson

MATHESON, John K. Age 85 of Dayton, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 29, 2015. He was born on Aug. 20, 1930 in Grayson , KY to his parents, Alexander & Rita (Sutherland) Matheson, whom precede John in death, along with his brother, Don Matheson; 2 sisters and their husbands Eula “Scookie” (Fred) Jones, and Merle (George) Davis; step-son, Jerry Colon; and daughter-in-law, Christine Matheson. John is survived by his wife of 42 years, Dorothy. He is also survived his children, Rodney (Melody) Matheson, Jonetta (Norman) Matheson-Davis, Ruth (Mike) Matheson-Peters, Don (Michelle) Matheson, Rick (Annalies) Matheson, Alex (Susan) Matheson, and Harold (Debbie) Matheson. Also, step-children, Jim (Nancy) Colon, Judy Swinning, Jewel “Bill” Colon, Mark (Arlene) Colon, and Lisa (Mark) Chaney; and 44 total grandchildren and great-grandchildren. John worked as a Police Officer in Grayson, KY and later made a career as a union contractor through Local 249 Painters Union in Dayton, OH. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Rod n’ Gun Club, and the Trail Riders Motorcycle Club. He enjoyed bowling, motorcycling, western movies, and playing cards. Visitation will be held from 4-6 PM with Memorial service to follow at 6:00 PM on Monday, Nov. 2, 2015 at Rogers Funeral Home, 110 West Main St., Trotwood, Ohio 45426.
