NEMANICH, Joseph G. Of Trotwood, Ohio was born April 3, 1933 and died October 2, 2014 of injuries sustained in a fall. He leaves behind his beloved wife and best friend of 60 years, Nancie J. (nee Bashor). He is also survived by his sister Barbara (John) Zaharewicz and family of Cleveland; nephew James Nemanich of St. Paul, MN; sister-in-law Karen (Robert) Davis and family of Tipp City; and many cousins and friends throughout the United States. Joe was born in Cleveland to Slovenian parents Joseph J. and Frances (nee Kasunic). He was raised in the Slovenian community surrounding St. Vitus Catholic Church and attended its elementary school, Cathedral Latin H.S. and Case Institute of Technology where he was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity and received his E.E. Degree. He was a member of KSKJ. While in school he discovered his love and talent for roller skating, especially free-style, and competed on the Amateur level. He turned Professional and began teaching skating. He moved to Dayton to begin his career as a Design-Engineer with Delco Motors, and after a short time, joined Sheridan Associates, a company that represented the manufacturers of electronic components. Chuck mentored Joe as they pioneered the use of microprocessors and other leading-edge components in products designed and manufactured by companies in Ohio and Michigan. As the company grew and diversified, Chuck established Sheridan Electronics for component distribution and SAI Marketing for Mfg Representation which he sold to Joe and the other sales engineers. Joe continued his career with SAI until his retirement and was a lifetime member of the Engineers Club of Dayton. While at Sheridan, Joe met and married Nancie who shared his passion for skating. They later owned and operated Skyborn Skateland in Fairborn, followed by Lind Arena in Zanesville where they enjoyed a summer home on the Muskingum River and the boating community. He became Commodore of Zanesville Yacht Club and was also President of the RSROA (Roller Skating Rink Operators Assoc). In retirement, Joe and Nancie took their houseboat "Idle Hour" down inland waterways to Mississippi where they docked. They enjoyed frequent trips in their RV between home and boat along with trips to Canada and Minnesota to visit his brother Jim. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother James E. Nemanich. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2014 at Corpus Christi Church, 527 Forest Ave, Dayton, OH 45405. Father Joshua Otusafo C.S.SP officiating.
