Joshua Lee Conley

CONLEY, Joshua Lee Age 31, of Englewood Ohio, passed away on Thursday, December 9, 2021. Joshua was born to his parents; Lawrence (Buddy) and Cynthia Conley, on August 27th, 1990, in Dayton, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his father; Lawrence “Buddy” Conley, paternal grandparents; Lawrence and Rosie Conley, maternal grandmother; Violet Fugate and a brother; Brett Lloyd. Aunts; Wanda Williamson, Emma Jean Smith, Darlene Vanderpool and Brenda Fugate. He is survived by his mother; Cynthia Conley (Bob Lloyd), siblings; Jason Conley (Wil Raines) and Sarah Lloyd. Maternal grandfather; Austin Fugate. Aunts; Cheryl (Johnny) Cantrell, Carolyn (Ken) Wilburn, and Miranda (Jeff) Frusher, Carolyn Williamson and an uncle; Virgil (Shawnda) Conley. Close cousins; Little John, Dwayne (Sarah M.), Austin, Katie, Mandy, Jay, Justin, Tabatha, and Sarah. Many other cousins and many, many friends. Joshua loved spending time with his family. He looked forward to the family camping trips and outings and all the holiday get-together celebrations. He loved to travel out of state when he could. He learned to play chess at an early age and competed in many matches, winning some honors. He loved riding ATV’s and dirt bikes. Joshua was proud of and enjoyed his job at Caterpillar, especially being able to work with his brother Jason. Joshua was faithful in attending Families of Addicts (FOA) weekly meetings and volunteered yearly for the FOA rallies held in Downtown Dayton. With FOA, he met his second family who became his mentors and provided him strength and support. There he met his very special friends, Amy Dunkin and Lori Erion. Josh became a well-known voice in the recovery community. Josh will always be remembered for the biggest smile and an even bigger heart. Joshua always made his Mama proud! Although Joshua may have stumbled, he never failed. Some of Joshua’s favorite quotes were, “You just can’t beat the person who never gives up” (Babe Ruth). Also, the Serenity Prayer, “God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can and wisdom to know the difference”.
