BAKER, Joyce Marie

Age 85, of Dayton, Ohio, went to her Heavenly Home on Saturday, December 24, 2022. She was born in Gibsonburg, Ohio, on January 17, 1937 to her parents, George and Viola (Applegate) Arnold. She is also preceded in death by her devoted husband, Herman Baker. Joyce is survived by her loving children, Carol Lewis, Sheila (Darryl) Ahner, and Brian (Gretchen) Baker; her eight grandchildren, Caleb and Luke Severt, Joshua, Jeremy (Courtney), Kristen, and Kathleen Ahner, and Milyke and Michelle Baker; and 3 great grandchildren. Joyce and her husband were pillars of the community; their lives were characterized by their radical generosity as they devoted their time to spreading God’s word and supporting ministry. Joyce was always willing to open her home to family, friends, and people that served God to include many missionaries and pastors. She worked at Christian Life Center’s Creative Learning Center for many years, where she embraced her love of children and was able to spread her love to many young ones. Nothing brought Joyce more joy than talking over a cup of coffee with her children or grandchildren, handing out plenty of candy, and keeping a detailed record of everyone’s life events in her paper calendar. She will be remembered as a very little woman with a very big heart and missed by all whose lives she profoundly impacted. A celebration of Joyce’s life will be held at 3:00 pm on Thursday, January 5, 2023 at Alpha Community Church, 806 Alpha Rd., Alpha, Ohio 45301. Food and fellowship will follow the service at the church.
