Joyce C. (Parks) Countiss

COUNTISS, Joyce C. (Parks) “Kentucky Wonder” Age 79, of New Lebanon, passed away on Wednesday, August 19, 2015. Joyce was born November 17, 1935 in Berea, KY to the late Vincent & Topsy Parks. She was a graduate of Roosevelt High School, Class of 1953. She was preceded in death by her parents; the love of her life of 39 years, James Countiss (J.C.) in 2000; brother-in-law, Bill Burke; and sister and brother-in-law, Lucille and Dale Blankenship. Joyce leaves behind three daughters, Sheril McCoy (George), Robin Spurlock, and Jamie (Rodney) Hubbard; grandchildren, Kelly, James, Michael, and Matthew; great grandchildren, Kyle, Kourtnee, Kasha, Aurora, Makenna, Aden, Ethen, and Landon; and great-great grandson, Kyson. She loved her family dearly. She leaves behind two sisters, Peggy Burke and Sandra (Gary) Wood, two very special people in her life; nieces, Sharon (Dick), Cindy, Toni, Wendy (Tony), Debbie (Paul) and nephew, Vince (Marisa), and of course all their kids; telephone buddies, Kathy, Danny, Robin B. (Listen for me, I’ll call); and all of the people of “Hi, how are you?” Memorial Service at 6PM on Friday, August 28 at Gratis United Methodist Church, 9 Ada Doty St., Gratis, 45330 with Pastor Gary Wood officiating. The family will receive friends from 4PM until the start of the service. If desired, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Joyce to the family.
