Kaleb Matthew Gauvey
Age 30 of Dayton, Ohio was born on February 22, 1994 and passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2024 due to complications of an automobile accident.
Kaleb is survived by his wife, Jesse Gauvey; 2 children, Parker and Liam Gauvey; father, Matthew (Kelly) Gauvey; mother, Amanda Hysinger; mother & father in-law, Rhonda & David Green; 8 siblings; and many more family members and friends.
Kaleb was a 6th grade teacher at Dixie Middle School where he also served as a track and volleyball coach. Together for 15 years, he was married to his high school sweetheart and was a devoted father to two incredible sons that he cherished. Kaleb had a huge impact on the lives of his students, and he was only getting started. His students and colleagues alike were deeply touched by his unwavering dedication and enthusiasm. Kaleb was passionate about music, known for teaching himself how to play multiple instruments, he selflessly instituted a music program for his students. Students and staff tell us that you’d find him spontaneously playing on the bongos in the hallways encouraging students keep up their pace and get to their next class on time. Kaleb also enjoyed reading, and all things outdoors, including kayaking, hiking, and fishing.
Kaleb never met a stranger and in his short time cultivated countless friendships and served as an incredible testament to a life well lived. He will be missed, not only for the imprint he had already made, but for the future impact he would undoubtedly have had. We are all better for having known him, if only for a moment. Kaleb’s generosity extended beyond his circle with his decision to be an organ donor, providing others with the gift of life even in his passing.
