Kathryn J. “Kari” MacClennan, age 61, of Dayton, passed away peacefully and went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 7, 2026. A woman of deep faith and vibrant creativity, Kari touched many lives as a published author, journalist, musician, artist, and minister. She found great joy in helping others, traveling, reading, baking, and above all, treasuring time spent with her cherished grandsons.

She was preceded in death by her beloved father, Dennis Vanderhorst.

Kari is survived by her loving mother, Sally Vanderhorst; her devoted husband, Robert C. MacClennan; her daughter, Sophia MacClennan, and son-in-law, Vincent Tyler Shauver; and her adored grandsons, Matthew J. Shauver and Joseph M. Shauver. She also leaves behind her siblings, Timothy K. Vanderhorst and his wife Karen, Laura A. (Vanderhorst) Lagerquist and her husband Jeff, David M. Vanderhorst and his wife Vickie, and Lyn A. (Vanderhorst) Boone and her husband Chad, along with many dear extended family members and friends.
