Kenneth F. Ortman
Age 92, of Farmersville, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at his home. He was born in Dayton, Ohio, on March 16, 1932, to his parents, Frank and Anna (Meyer) Ortman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Anita Painter; his wife of 53 years, Carrol (Frazier) Ortman; and wife of 13 years, Pauline (Rehmert) Ortman.
Kenneth is survived by his two daughters, Raymie Degnan (Eddie) and Melanie Vance (David); grandson, Aaron Degnan (Candy); granddaughter, Dalanie Grissom (Blaine), great granddaughter, Michaela Degnan; and great grandson, Jamison Degnan.
Ken graduated from Phillipsburg High School in 1950. He attended the University of Dayton, and obtained an Associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering. He served in the United States Marine Corps for 4 years, then worked for the government at Wright Patterson Air Force Base for about 25 years. He took an early retirement and moved to Florida. Ken then decided to work for Bally Corporation for another 10 years.
He loved historical trains, model trains, and the American automobile. He enjoyed boating and RVing and knew almost every road in the country by heart. He attended Germantown First Church of God. He was a worshiper and servant in his daily life. He was very thankful that his whole family knows The Lord. He is now 'praising his Savior all the day long' just like his favorite hymn says. He was a very loving, kind, and gentle leader to our family, who we could all come to for advice, a shoulder, or help in any way. We are very blessed to have had him for as long as we did and so grateful for all the joy and happiness he brought to us all.
His late-life companion became a white Golden Retriever named Abbaye. She was a Godsend and his best friend until he took his last breath. Every night when they went to bed, they would hold paws. She survived him and remains in the family. A service will be held in his honor at Rogers's Funeral Home in New Lebanon, OH on July 10, 2024 at 4:00 pm.
Donations can be made to 4pawsforability.org (where Abbaye came from), or the US Dept. of Veteran’s Affairs, cdceportal.va.gov, in lieu of flowers. www.RogersFuneralHomes.com
