SAND, L. Louise Having celebrated the milestone of 102 years of living a full life, was called to her Heavenly home by our Lord on October 5, 2016. Louise was born in Lansing, Ohio on February 5, 1914 to Henry and Lena Kolb. She was living at Lakeview, Brookhaven, Brookville, Ohio. Louise was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 60 years, Rev. Daniel Sand; daughter, Rev. Carole Mohr; granddaughter, Melinda Littleton; great grandsons, Sean and Joshua Littleton; six brothers; and two sisters. She is survived by daughter, Mary Beth Oliver; son, Luther “Luke” (Jan) Sand; son-in-law, Rev. Daniel Mohr; eight grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren; and a host of friends and relatives. Louise graduated from Bridgeport High School as Valedictorian and attended Capital University, where she received her teaching certificate. In her early teaching years, she taught in Lansing, Ohio and Dillsboro, Indiana elementary schools. While teaching in Lindsey, Ohio schools, she attended Bowling Green State University with a B.S. in Teaching. Louise moved to the Brookville area in 1958 where she concluded her teaching career of 30 years at Westbrook Elementary School. She was an active member of Providence Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School, worked with the youth in the Junior Lutherans, and member of ELCA Women of the Church until her later years. Upon retiring, Louise and her husband traveled the United States, Hawaii, Germany, Switzerland, and took several cruises. She was also a 45-year cancer survivor! The family would like to thank the staff of Lakeview and Hospice of Dayton for the comfort care they provided, especially the staff of Lakeview, who were devoted to her care for 16 years. A Celebration of Life Service will be celebrated on June 17, 2017 at 1:00 pm, on the anniversary of Louise and Dan’s wedding anniversary at Providence Lutheran Church, Brookville.
