WALKER, Marvin E. 79, of Springfield, passed away peacefully Thursday, June 14, 2012. He was born October 19, 1932 in Brookville, Ohio, the son of Floyd and Esther (Brock) Walker. Mr. Walker served in the Korean War conflict. Marvin established himself as the chief cook for many officers and generals. He had a passion for cooking and also served as an event cook in his church. Mr. Walker was a member of Independent Order of Odd Fellows. He also was a member of the Handyman Club of America. Mr. Walker worked for many years as a supervisor in building construction. He later established his own company, Walker & Son serving the Dayton and Springfield community. Mr. Walker is survived by his devoted wife of six years: Mae (Callahan) Walker; one son; Mark Walker of Brookville, Ohio; two sisters; Wilma Murkerson of Tallahassee, Florida and Joyce Funk of Greenville, Ohio, and an extended family of special nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son; Michael Walker, one brother; Ralph Walker and one sister; Janice Burns. A visitation service to honor Marvin will be held at St. John Missionary Baptist Church, Tuesday June 19 from 5:00PM until 7:00PM. Funeral services will be held at Rogers Funeral Home, 324 West Main Street, New Lebanon, Ohio at 1:00PM Wednesday June 20 with visitation beginning at 12:00Noon. Marvin was well loved in his church and will be truly missed.
