Mary A Fugate (née Rue) born August 19, 1939 in Bradford, OH., passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on July 27, 2026. She was precedes in death by her mother and stepfather, Dorothea(Overla) and Waldo Shellenberg; father, William Rue; husband, Walter Lee Fugate Sr; brothers, Charles, William and John(Pam) Rue; brother-in-law, Burnell Mee; son-in-law, James Stallard; granddaughters Shelly Bailey and Christine Wade; and great-grandson Walter Lee Fugate IV. 

She is survived by her brother, Marvin(Jane) Rue; sisters, Marjorie(Evan) Leichty, Bonita Duran, Jean Mee, Janet Hall, Sharon Centliver; daughters, Sheridan Stallard, Rhea Jeffers, Kelly Bailey; sons, Walter(Dawn) Jr, Glen, Mark(Laura); granddaughters, Josiah, Janelle(Jeremy), Bridgett(Brian), Brianna, Laura(Billy), Mindy, Kimberly, Meghan; grandsons, Joshua, Jeremy, Thomas, Brandon, Kristopher, Walter(Missy), Glen(Nancy), Zachariah; 37 great grandchildren; 10 great great grandchildren, including her newest great great granddaughter, her namesake Mary Rose.

She found happiness in life's simple moments. She loved being surrounded by her family. She loved to read, work on word search books, going to concerts, and going with family to play Bingo. She also had a special gift for nurturing plants, filling her home with life and beauty.

A visitation will be held at Rogers Funeral Home, 324 West Main Street, New Lebanon, OH 45345, on Saturday, August 8, 2026 from 11:00am to 12:00 pm. The funeral service will begin at 12:00pm. The burial will be held at a later date.
