Maxine Barr

BARR, Maxine Age 90, of Brookville, passed away Thursday evening March 31, 2016. She was born January 29, 1926 in Belmont, OH to the late Vernon and Florence Huffman. Maxine was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Richard; sisters, Frances (Delbert) Johnson and Betty (Amos) Watson; and brothers-in-law, Ronald Terflinger and Paul E. Sowers. Maxine was a caring, giving, sweet spirit loved by all who knew her. She cherished most her children, Rick (Tracy) Barr, Diane (Ben) Story, Denise Treser, and Randy (Shellie) Barr; grandchildren, Scott (Tara Spradley) Carden, Holly (Ryan) Heffernan, Eric Barr, Taylor Barr, and Shannon Barr; great-grandchildren, Brady and Sophia Carden. Also survived by her sisters, Shirley Sowers and Jean Terflinger; brothers, David (Sue) Huffman and Norman (Donna) Huffman; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Roy Barr, Bob Barr, Clarence Barr, Jack (Nellie) Barr and Betty (Bob) Vagedes. Maxine was a 51 year member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority, Xi Alpha Mu chapter, which is a non-academic sorority with members around the world. Members have donated a million dollars a year to medical research and treatment through The Endowment Fund. A celebration of Maxine’s life will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday, April 5 at the ROGERS’ FUNERAL HOME, 324 W. Main St., New Lebanon with entombment to follow at Royal Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11:00 AM until the time of the service.
