GIBSON, Peggy V. Age 82, of Trotwood passed away on Sunday, March 20th, at Brookhaven Nursing Center after a year-long illness. She was born on June 5, 1928 in Sioux City, Iowa, to Arthur and Mabel Johnson. She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Paul D. Gibson, and her sister Dorothy Maxwell and brother Loren Johnson. Peggy is survived by her two children: son Kevin of Trotwood, and daughter Karen (James) Profitt of Goshen, Indiana. Also surviving are granddaughter Christine (Michael) Riggs of Colorado Springs, CO, great-granddaughter Campbell Riggs, grandson Jeremy (Rachel) Profitt of Castle Rock, Colorado, many nieces and nephews, along with her dear friends at Trotwood United Church of Christ. Peggy worked as a secretary for several companies in the Dayton area, including the Schiff Shoe Corporation. She retired from the Carlson Marketing Corporation in 1992. Later, she became the church secretary at TUCC, where she was a 53-year-member. She finally retired at the age of 81. Peggy was an active volunteer with the Trotwood Historical Society and the Victoria Theatre Association. She loved her family, her corgis, travel, and singing in her church and community choirs. She was an avid teddy bear collector. She was especially blessed to meet and hold her first great-granddaughter in the past year. A celebration of Peggy’s life will be held at Trotwood United Church of Christ on Thursday, March 24, 2011 at 1:30 PM. Pastor John Barnett will be officiating. Interment will follow at Arlington Cemetery in Brookville. The family will receive friends at ROGERS’ FUNERAL HOME in TROTWOOD on Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of both Brookhaven and Hospice of Dayton for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations in Peggy’s memory may be made to Hospice of Dayton or TUCC.
