Phyllis A. Van Zant

VAN ZANT, Phyllis A. Age 79 of Trotwood, passed away Monday, Dec. 7, 2015. She was born in Dayton, Ohio on March 19, 1936 to her parents Clifford & Arlene (French) Sears. Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Thomas Sears. She is survived by her husband, Paul Van Zant; 3 sons, Mike (Carol), Randy (Joan), and Bruce Van Zant; 4 grandchildren, Randall, Vincent (Kristin), Ashley (Chuck) Pierce, and Zachary (Kara); 10 great-grandchildren, Taylor, Blake, Alexis, Vinnie, Jessie, Maggie, Karson, Randall Kyle, Jace, and Kylynn; and numerous other family members and friends. Phyllis attended Trotwood-Madison High School and eventually cosmetology school to become a hairdresser, which she enjoyed doing most of her life at Van Zant Style Salon. She was an artist and attended painting classes in Myrtle Beach, SC. Phyllis loved to garden and entertain. She hosted garden parties, bonfires, picnics, and enjoyed to shop, go to the theatre with friends, sew, and make jewelry. Phyllis and Paul had a winter home in Florida, and place on Lake Cumberland and also vacationed in Cancun. They enjoyed a wonderful life together. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Good Sam North, Good Samaritan Hospital, Miami Valley Hospital, and Hospice of Dayton. Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, Dec. 11, 2105 at Rogers Funeral Home, 324 West Main St., NEW LEBANON, Ohio 45345. With Pastor Bill Schilling officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation Thursday evening from 5-7 PM at the New Lebanon funeral home and from 12-1 PM Friday prior to the service.
