Phyllis M. Vanover

Age 92 of Brookville, formerly of New Lebanon, passed away on Wednesday, July 30, 2025. She was born in Bulls Gap, TN on September 3, 1932 to her parents, Ott and Thelma Gentry. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Van Vanover; son-in-law, Larry Shock; brother, Paul Gentry; and brother-in-law, Chet Woods.

Phyllis is survived by her children, Sue (Mike) Miller of Portage, MI, Gay Shock of Brookville, OH, Carol (Rick) Cook of Louisville, KY, and Mark (Terri) Vanover of Lima, OH; sister, Judy Woods; sister-in-law, Virginia (Ralph) Simmons; also 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Phyllis attended Bear Creek Church of the Brethren for many years until they closed. She has since enjoyed attending Brookville Church of the Brethren. Phyllis worked as a cook for New Lebanon Schools for 20 years. She enjoyed her Bible studies and loved to bake.

A Celebration of Phyllis’s life will be held on Saturday, August 9th, at the Brookville Church of the Brethren. Visitation will be from 11am-12pm with service to begin at 12:00pm. www.RogersFuneralHomes.com
