Ralph H. R. Childs

CHILDS, Ralph H. R. Age 87 of Trotwood, passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at the Veterans Home in Georgetown, Ohio. Ralph was born on July 2, 1930 in Albright, West Virginia to his parents William Ray & Opal Kathyrne (White) Childs. Ralph was preceded in death by his wife, Iona (Ford) Childs; oldest son, Gary Childs; and daughter, Melonie Joanna Childs. He is survived by his 2 sons, Richard (Cindy) Childs of Lexington, SC, and Jefferson (Cindy) Childs of Hillsboro, KY; 2 granddaughters, Lindsay Rae, and Christina Catherine of Hillsboro, KY; sister, Betty Marlow of West Virginia; and numerous other family members and friends. Ralph was a proud Veteran of the U.S. Airforce. During his lifetime he founded the Childs-Ford Foundation for Christian Outreach, served as an Evangelist Minister, a school teacher, and florist. He also loved to sing. Special thank you to the friends and staffs at Georgetown Veterans Home and Stein Hospice for their love and care. Visitation will be held from 11:30am to 12:30pm with funeral to follow at 12:30pm on Monday, July 31, 2017 at Rogers Funeral Home in Trotwood. Pastor Alan Cain officiating. Interment with military honors will follow the funeral at 2:00pm at Dayton National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ohio Veterans Home in Georgetown, KY.
