In Loving Memory of Randy Powers
With heavy hearts, the family of Randy Powers announces his sudden passing on July 22 at the age of 61, due to cardiac arrest.
Born on August 24, 1963, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton, Ohio, Randy was inquisitive from the very beginning, a trait his mother, Norma Powers, fondly remembers. He carried that curiosity throughout his life, always eager to learn and share his knowledge with others. Randy was also known for his sharp wit and unique sense of humor—he could find the funny in any situation and never failed to bring a smile to those around him. His kindness extended to both people and animals. Whether he was gently petting a stray cat, feeding the woodland creatures behind his home, or pitching in on construction to help his sister open her business on time, Randy gave of himself freely and without hesitation. He also loved finding the best deals and gifts for his friends and family, often treasure-hunting with his dear friend, Annette Schall.
Randy was a devoted father to four children and a proud grandfather to one grandson, Axel, whom he affectionately called “Tater Eugene Bean.” Randy was the first to hold Tater at the hospital and cherished every moment with him—from first steps to sweet “Tater kisses.” Randy’s love for his children was unwavering. He continued to fill Easter baskets, Christmas stockings, and Halloween bags long after they outgrew their belief in the Easter Bunny or Santa Claus as an expression of his love.
Randy is survived by his mother, Norma Powers (Dayton); his children: Rachel Powers (Cincinnati), Regan (Powers) and Sean Grapes (Dayton), Remmington Powers, and Reanna Powers (Dayton); his beloved grandson, Axel Grapes; and his sisters, Robin Powers and Dean Schrieber (New Lebanon), and Ranjani Powers and Riley Slate (Dayton) and his devoted friend Annette Schall. He was preceded in death by his father, Alvin Powers, and his brother, Rick Powers.
A public memorial service will be held at Rogers’ Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 30, 2025. Visitation will be at noon, and the service will start at 1:00 PM. Internment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. In honor of Randy’s generous spirit, the family kindly requests donations be sent to the American Diabetes Association.
Though Randy is no longer with us, his legacy of laughter, love, and compassion will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. www.RogersFuneralHomes.com
